Camping Solemar

This camping claims to have 3 stars. The location of the camping is good, right at the beach. Close to Santa Maria Navarese. Great location for going on day trips to the Barbagia & the Gennargentu. However the campground itself needs a management which is interested in their property. We stayed there June 2009. Upon arrival there was no one available at the office. After a lenghty search for someone to give us info and register we decided to pitch our tent and hope to register later. We put up our tent right next to a set of caravans which seemed to have a permanent spot there. The inhabitents of those caravans noticed us putting up our tent there, however they did not acknowledge or even greeted us. No problem. As it turned out this couple happened to be the Padrone of the campground. For the entire period they ignored us. We tried several times to register, office always empty. They used part of our site as a dump site for their garden refuge and excess electrical wires. The daily noise they produced exceeded a number of decibels at times. The padrone even managed to start his (and consequently our) day by revetting his jeep at 6.10am in the morning. The toilets - only 50% were in use - were every 2nd or third day hosed down with water, but never really cleaned. Most distrubing was the fact that 2 faucets at the dishwashing sinks leaked day and night. They were in fact constantly running. No respect for the environment at all. Their road signs advertise that there is a market, restaurant, pizzaria & bar. However this does not open till July.The only reason we stayed as long as we did was the fact that the location of the campground was really quiet as well the campground itself, apart from the noise the padrone & his family were producing, and it was close enough for some interesting day trips in the area. Conclusion we would not recommend this place.
